Counting the days for the Amazon India Couture week 2015, the day has finally arrived for Gupta and team. Running up to this date, the team have been practicing cat walks, and make up trials to make this day an epic one.
Gaurav Gupta’s new collection was launched on 24th July 2015. This season Gupta has focused on intricate detail working with lace and chiffon to create a Victorian finish. The colours used such as red, purple, burgundy; all bring a vibrant look on anyone wearing a piece of Gupta’s collection.
Along with looking at the AW2015 collection, looking at previous collections from 2011, Gupta has also portrayed his quirky personality through his work. He doesn’t only have a degree within fashion, he worked his way up by delivering his creativity such as owning a brand name like ‘Atpug Vauag’ which is the reverse of his name. This brand lead as debutant of the year.
The collections creates a unique yet elegant and sophisticated look, which repeats the Victorian vibe that Gupta is showcasing this season.

It’s well known that Sabyasachi is the Emperor of divine and exuberant fashion, a studious artisan who carefully seeks out inspiration from rural arts and crafts to the art historical, creating some of the most evocative and inspiring designs. Sabyasachi was chosen to kick-start Amazon India Couture Week, and he did beautifully, showcasing a collection that celebrated distinct embroideries from differing parts of India, fashion with modern cuts and fine detailing.
For AICW, Sabyasachi collaborated with the God of French shoe design Christian Louboutin, who added a gorgeous injection of Parisian panache, with a eye-catching mix of refined European classicism. The collection, which saw the marriage of two of the worlds brightest designers is Bater – one of the most common hunting birds of India and depicted dark, gothic look in the form of colours and cuts.
The set for the show resembled a rundown house, with a rustic and dilapidated feel, befitting the Gothic theme of the collection with its muted colours of gold, inky blues and black, the real injection of colour came from Christian Louboutin’s blood red shoes. Sabyasachi and Christian Louboutin were the ideal team to launch this celebration of all things couture.
Quite literally one of the sweetest moments you will see this year….
It was at Canadian Frank Gregoire’s mixed faith wedding that, after six months hard work learning Hindi from scratch, he surprised his loving bride Simran Malhotra. What proceeded was a beautifully magical moment.
“My heart sank when I first heard him sing in Hindi. It was a feeling I had never felt before,” Simran told The Huffington Post Canada. “The only thing I was thinking was, ‘How did he manage to do this?’ I was the only one at the reception who knows how hard he truly works.”
The song is from the movie “Aashiqui 2” (2013) and is about not being able to live without your beloved. It was the perfect song for Frank who told the Huffington Post – “At the time I approached Simran’s mom and she recommended a few options, one of which was ‘Tum Hi Ho.’ Once I read the translation, I realized I couldn’t have found anything more perfect to express my feelings to her,” he says.
It’s been a long wait for fans of Mr Kapoor, but the 34-year-old actor is finally hitched to his Delhi based girlfriend Mira Rajput. The couple were married in a toned down, yet still perfectly glamorous gurudwara at the home of wealthy industrialist Shivinder Singh in Rajkori, Delhi, before heading off to the beautifully luxurious Oberoi Hotel in Gurgaon.
Despite its obvious grandeur and solemnity of the occasion, the couple, along with their guests, were pretty relaxed, this certainly wasn’t a stuffy affair, with everyone posting playful photos to social media. Even the couple took many moments to post intimate and loving shots of each other on the big day.
Shahid’s father, the legendary Bollywood Pankaj Kapur who enthused with joy and love as he spoke to the media, saying – “We are very happy. Our daughter-in-law is very beautiful. It is a celebration time for our family.” There many other sweet messages coming thick and fast throughout the day.
The wedding itself was attended by 40 guests, including family and close friends. For the exchange of vows, Mira Rajput sported a pink and green churridar suit, with an elegantly embellished dupatta over her head. Shahid wore a white kurta pyjama with an exuberant orange turban.
As the reception came, what remained of the formalities were dispensed with, then it was time for everyone to well and truly let their hair down. From the couples stunning entrance in regal and sumptuous attire, the couple changed again, Mira was dressed in a yellow Anita Dongre lehenga, with matching gold jewellery, with playfully draped string of yellow flowers around her neck and in her hair, giving a wonderfully carefree look. Shahid had changed into a red kurta, bandhgala and black churridar.
As the evening progressed, Shahid danced to his hit numbers ‘Dhan Tenan’, ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’, ‘Saj Dhaj Ke Tashan’ along with his new bride, family and friends. All in all, it was the perfect day, with a good variety of stunning designs being donned by the pair, a perfect ceremony and even more perfect reception.

A prince among men, Gaurav Gupta has been a force of pure unadulterated creativity for decades. His designs are a bewitching amalgamation of history, luxury, beauty and style, superseded by none. The end of 2014 marked 10 years since the launch of his brand and opening of his first store, it was a thoroughly illuminating celebration.
An iconic exhibition was staged at Delhi Art Gallery, which saw his most recent collection exhibited alongside a vast collection of beautiful portrait photography and art that inspired the collection.
As noted by One Soul Life – “The occasion was hosted at DAG on Thursday 27th November 2014. Many celebrities and known faces attended in Gaurav Gupta’s couture. Shruti Hassan, Anushka Manchanda, Kiran Rao, Manasi Scott, Suchitra Pillai and Bandana Tewari with models Ricky and Tara were seen. Also present were Arjun Kapoor, Obit Marwah, Zayed Khan amongst many others.”
The exhibition was an innovative exploration into the mind of a sartorial genius, featuring video projections of the design process, an exclusive display of Gaurav’s graduation collection, along with photos and iconic designs that charted his rise and creative enrichment over the years.
Much like his store, the exhibition was a heady mix of magic realism and unabashed fantasy, age old grandeur was mixed with the modern in perfect synchronicity.
Something else proved special about this exhibit, as the Times of India discovered during an interview with Gaurav – “He also unveils his first ever campaign with his muse Kalki. In his words, “Kalki is fantastical. She embodies mystery, womanhood and a childlike quality. She is a progressive artist in every way and that shows in the different expressions of her creativity — from theatre to philanthropy, cinema and fashion.”
As Gaurav Gupta reached a milestone, he has certainly not grown complacent, he still has that intense hunger to create and master the alchemy of beautiful design. Forever expanding and perfecting his craft.
