Ladies and gentleman, meet Alex and Lisa, just your average couple. Alex works in the motor industry and is a pretty laid back guy; Lisa is a self-confessed “talker” and passionate lover of cooking, eating and drinking wine. The pair met 10 years ago, and it took Alex a decade to finally catch his dream girl.

Although there’s one particular thing that is, shall we say, far less ordinary about this couple. Dissatisfied with the idea of a traditional “white wedding” the couple decided to travel the world, taking part in a wedding ceremony in every single country they visited.

From Bosnia Herzegovina to Morocco, India to Argentina, Alex and Lisa have been determined to embrace every culture they encounter head on, and this is what’s created a media storm. It’s essentially about experiencing the cementing of true love across all the cultures and nations in this world.
They have just recently left the UK to head over to the sun drenched island of Corfu. Alex and Lisa have done what so many couples across the world long to do, and their journey to search for the perfect wedding is keeping us all enthralled. You can visit their blog 2 People 1 Lifehere.

As of now Lisa has worn approximately 36 wedding dresses, the most expensive being a Charlotte Balbier design costing $10,000 and the least expensive being a TK Maxx summer dress for £8. The couples longest wedding ceremony coming in at 10 hours long in Morocco and the shortest coming in at 1 minute in Hungary.

The 1st leg of their tour the Americas is done, and the 2nd leg Africa and Europe. The couple have just reached South Asia, with their 66th ceremony taking place in the port city of Karachi. It was a big scale affair with, of course, all traditions displayed, including Dhol drums, Salwars and gun shots etc.

After Karachi, we at Think Shaadi will be keeping a very close eye on Alex and Lisa’s movements across India and wider South Asia.
For any woman, finding the perfect wedding shoes is a mighty tough task. There are so many questions to be taken into consideration. Will they withstand being worn from morning till night, will I be able to walk in them properly and so on, and so on.
Well now you need not worry, we at Think Shaadi have scoured the best designers around and picked some our favourites. These shoes are, we feel, more than suitable, along with extremely stylish to wear for your various wedding events.
The Italian design house Sergio Rossi is renowned for its playful and artistic creations. These subtle yet gorgeously fashioned gold platform sandals are a microcosm of the Rossi aesthetic, studded with outstanding crystals. The front wedge creates a feeling of security to compliment the length of the heel, and straps give room for free movement.
Kate Spades design ethic is always about fun, fun, fun, and these “charm heels” are perfect to inject a bit of girlie joy. The shimmering bow on the toe is its crowning glory.
These Oyster Bed d’Orsays shoes by BHLDN are like a work of art in themselves. Fashioned with dusky pink satin and encrusted with the most beautiful pearls from the sea bed. Made in Italy, they are a superb addition to any wedding outfit.
A delicate looking pair of evening shoes with manageable heel by Badgley Mischka is like a gift from God. The design, in silk satin and metallic leather, has a classically simplistic approach, but the rhinestone decoration on the toe adds a distinctive edge of age old glamour.
We need not go into details about Monolo Blahnik, the world famous shoe makers. This unashamedly extravagant pair of ‘Sedaraby’ open toe d’Orsay pumps are bewitching, but also comfortable to wear. Like their counterparts by Badgley Mischka, the jewel encrusted brooch on the toe, is the icing on the cake.
Kate Spade’s funky and bright designs are like a breath of fresh air. What better way to add a real touch of excitement to your wedding function outfit than slipping these ‘liquorice too’ pumps on. Brilliantly constructed and definitely paying close attention to comfort.
If you want to move away from convention, then these Valentino Garavani pumps, with pointed toe, are perfect. The brilliant orange will definitely get guests talking.
Gucci, the long standing bastion of luxury, have been pretty clever in their design methods. These gorgeous gold shoes, festooned from top to toe in brilliant Swarovski crystals are not only the epitome of beauty, but they give the feet room to breathe, at the sides, so no danger of feeling constricted.
Jimmy Choo never does things by half, and these gorgeous eye-catching heals are perfect for a long day of standing and mingling with relatives. The heal isn’t too high and the open toe gives more room for the feet to breath and feel as comfortable as possible. The striking diamante and silver thread worked throughout makes a bold statement.
It’s impossible not to include Christian Louboutin on our list about wedding shoes. The kaleidoscopic rainbow colours, shimmering from the Swarovski crystals, which act like mini-mirrors, entice the eye like nothing else. Again, the open toe takes away any feeling of constriction.
We at Think Shaadi were quite taken with last month’s cover of Harper’s Bazaar Bride, which featured the two hottest properties in Bollywood – Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor. Alia looked coquettish whilst Arjun smouldered in his usual leading man manner, the shoot, although fashioned in the traditional bridal aesthetic was refreshing. Gone was the stiffness and ultra-formality of previous shoots and in its place saw a more relaxed and younger tone.
The subtitle ‘Colours of India’ was an apt description, with Alia wearing a kaleidoscopic lehenga from Manish Arora’s 2013 couture collection, famed of course for his eclectic palette, and jewellery by Think Shaadi partner Gehna Jewellers. The pairing of Arora and Gehna was perfect in invoking the colourful experimentations of contemporary Indian design.
Alia and Arjuna were promoting their latest film release 2 States by Abhishek Varman, and the narrative of the film was reflected in the shoot. Young love was the key theme here; it was about bringing a sense of fun and frivolity to the forefront, so the clothing had to fit with that theme.
It’s pretty difficult not to smile at this, a young couple on the threshold of love.

This is a great tutorial from Community Member Nila Holden to make your Valentine’s Day even more special xx
This Valentine’s Day treat your sweetheart to some delicious & easy to make Linzer biscuits (the perfect accompaniment to a glass bubbly).
Traditionally Linzer biscuits are made with almonds, but not being a big fan of almonds in cakes and patisserie, and being short on patience today, I decided to try making these biscuits with a vanilla cookie dough. I have to say they were delicious!
mini cookie/sugarpaste cutters: hearts, stars, christmas trees
Two baking sheets lined with baking parchment.
1. Firstly, ensure that your dough has been chilled for 30 mins. Roll out your dough to 5mm thick
2. Cut out 16 squares. Place 8 squares onto 1 baking tray – these can be baked straightaway and will form the base of the linzer cookies.
3. Place the remaining 8 squares onto your second baking tray. Using the mini cutters cut out shapes from the middle of the square, taking care not to distort the square frame of the cookie. You can either use the same mini cutter for all the cookies or use a variety of different cutters for variety! I’ve included them all on one tray in this photo so you can see what I mean.
4. Bake the cookies for 10 – 12 mins. Cool on a wire rack.
5. Place your raspberry jam in small bowl and using a spoon mix it for a few minutes. This will loosen up the jam and make it easier to spread.
6. Take the 8 cookie squares and spread a small amount of jam over them.
7. Take the cookies with the cut out hearts, trees etc and sprinkle on a light layer of icing sugar.
8. Sandwich the two halves together and hey presto – you have delicious & quick linzer biscuits.
Don’t they look beautiful? You can use love hearts for Valentine’s Day or Christmas trees and stars for festive gifts. If you have the patience and have mini letter cutters you could even cut out a name or text! The possibilities are endless..
The cookies will start to soften once you’ve sandwiched them together with jam so if you’re not using them straight away, its best to store the baked cookies in an airtight container. And then just sandwich them together with the jam a few hours before you need them.
As always, if you use the tutorial then please do leave me some feedback or a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.

This is why we want to share this post from Miss Malani written by Rashmi Daryanani. Her mom Kavita has broken down Mr. Right into various examples of Bollywood characters. We could not stop laughing and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did!!
