Brides Designer Catwalk, A Vogue House Event

From Venetian inspiration to the roaring ’20s, the Brides Catwalk presents fabulous bridal gowns by British designers…

Stephanie Allin

Taking place at the magnificent Corinthia Hotel London on 16th July, the evening begins with guests being treated to delicious canapés and exquisite champagne. Set up in a salon-style theme, brides-to-be watch models work their way through the room showing off gowns by Catherine Deane, Suzanne Neville, Sanyukta Shrestha and more, each design with its own stand-out elements.

Stephanie AllinFrom detailed 3D florals and feathers, to plunging back necklines and long elegant trains, the gowns break through convention with an overall ‘less is more’ philosophy in sleek and modern designs. Exaggerated waistlines and cap sleeves take over the catwalk with intricately embroidered bodices. Popular details include layering and lace; this, inspired by the 1920s, is seen strongly in Sanyukta Shrestha’s collection – which also features a jaw dropping rose lace layered bridal gown – perfect for the modern bride.

Though the gowns may look soft and demure, don’t be fooled as the designers easily describe their dresses as sexy through the low back necklines and sensual fabrics like lace and silk. Designer Suzanne Neville has worked delicate lace in to the bodice of her gowns with A-line and sheath silhouetted silk skirts creating head-turning dresses.

For a vintage charm, try on Katya Katya Shehurina’s Venetian inspired dresses. Made in pastel blue, ivory and white, and inspired by Venetian architecture, these dresses scream elegance through the delicate French lace and a gentle fall – perfect for a summer wedding.
